This GREMLINS Poster Features Dozens of ’80s Movie References

Over 30 years after its original release, the horror-comedy Gremlins holds strong as a classic, and a paragon of ’80s movies across the board. Solidifying just how synonymous the film is with its corresponding decade, we’ve come across a new Gremlins poster that ropes in references to dozens of other movies from the era.

Via io9, Kevin M. Wilson (a.k.a. Ape Meets Girl) released a Gremlins tribute poster through the Hero Complex Gallery. The poster depicts a scene that takes place early in the film, when Randall Peltzer stumbles upon his beloved mogwai Gizmo in a mysterious antiques shop. As envisioned by Wilson, Randall could have taken home some very familiar objects from other movies, including Chucky, Freddy Krueger‘s glove, Jason Voorhees‘ hockey mask, and more! (Click the image below to see a larger version.)

Unfortunately, this poster, which was briefly available for purchase during New York Comic Con, is completely sold out. But we can still have fun poring over the details. We can see Bubo from the original Clash of the Titans, the Glaive from Krull, the painting of Vigo the Carpathian from Ghostbusters II, Wilson the volleyball from Cast Away, He-Man’s sword, the Rocketeer’s jet pack, the mask from The Mask, the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis from the Evil Dead films, and several others. That’s one hell of a shared universe!

The most intriguing thing about the poster is that repeated viewings almost always uncover new things that were previously missed. Like the Hellraiser puzzle box sharing a shelf with the Holy Grail. Wilson did an outstanding job on this piece, and you can find more of his work here.
