GREASE: LIVE Snags Pop Star Carly Rae Jepsen

If you turn on the radio or stroll into a supermarket, you’re bound to hear Carly Rae Jepsen’s global smash hit “Call Me Maybe”. In just a few years, Jepsen has released three albums and scored two Grammy award nominations, making her a household name. And now the Canadian singer is mixing it up, by taking on the role of Pink Lady Frenchy in Fox’s Grease: Live musical.

This role was played by the incredible Didi Conn in the classic 1978 version, so I think it’s fair to say that Jepsen has some big shoes to fill, but we have faith that Jepsen can pull it off! The cast of Grease: Live also includes Kether Donohue as Jan (the other Pink Lady), David Del Rio as the T-Birds’ Putzie, Julianne Hough as Sandy, Aaron Tveit as Danny, Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie and Keke Palmer as Marty.

Jepsen isn’t the only pop star to feature in Grease: Live, either. Jessie J will open the event with her reimagining of “Grease (is the Word)”. Finally to top it all off, Glee and Annie choreographer Zach Woodlee has been summoned to choreograph the live performances. Are you getting excited yet? Yeah? Us too.

Grease: Live will air on Sunday, January 31 on Fox. Don’t forget to tune in for some nostalgic goodness, and also a fresh take on this well-loved material.
