Pokémon Go seemed to take over the world this year but Pocket Monster fans know that the Poké-craze is nothing new. Pokemon just celebrated itâs 20th anniversary and the love for the games, cartoons, and more seems unstoppable.
While Pokémon cafes are popular around the world, here in America they are as rare as finding a Ditto in the wild. Now you can enjoy a Poké-meal at home with the newPokémon cookbook from Viz media.
Put down yourPokémon Go app and head to your own kitchen where this book will guide you to create fun Poké-themed meals like Pokéball sushi, Pikachu Ramen and Meowth Mashed Potatoes. Created by Maki Kudo, the food in this cookbook is easy to make and looks just like the beloved characters from the series.
Of all the themed cookbooks Iâve seen, this has to be one of my favorites. Most cookbooks based on shows or characters are filled with boring food with fun names attachedâthat’s not the case here. In the Pokémon Cookbook, Kudo takes the characters and likenesses and easily translates them into creatures using simple knife skills and colorful ingredients. Her creativity is notable as the whimsical photos and helpful hints make you feel like itâs a doable and delicious project.
Food art like this can seem daunting at first, but breaking down the ingredients into simple components is what make the recipes easy to follow. Why eat regular yogurt when you can make one that looks like Piplup with a few added steps? And trust me, youâll never look at hot dogs the same again after youâve shaped them into Digletts.
Check out some of the fun recipes in the gallery below before the Pokémon Cookbook debuts in stores December 6th.
