When the world will end unless a demon and an angel can work together to stop the Antichrist–who hasn’t hit puberty–the good Lord is probably going to have something to say about it, and now Good Omens has found its voice of God. We have to say, she lives up to everything we have always hoped an almighty being would sound like, because it will be two-time Oscar winner Frances McDormand herself bellowing from above.
At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con Amazon Prime Video held a panel with the creators from six of its upcoming new shows, including Neil Gaiman who is leading their adaptation of the novel he co-wrote with Terry Pratchett. But as though announcing McDormand’s casting wasn’t enough heavenly news, they also shared the first look at the show, with a behind-the-scenes featurette that will have fans of the book praying the Apocalypse doesn’t happen before they get to see the series.
“The End of the World is coming, which means a fussy Angel and a loose-living Demon whoâve become overly fond of life on Earth are forced to form an unlikely alliance to stop Armageddon. But they have lost the Antichrist, an 11-year-old boy unaware heâs meant to bring upon the end of days, forcing them to embark on an adventure to find him and save the world before itâs too late.”
Amazon also released a poster for the show, and it’s rare when we can hear music coming from a picture because we know exactly which band is playing on the radio. (Ask your friend who should lend you the book to explain why it’s definitely Queen.)
Who would have thought the Apocalypse would look–or sound–so great.
