It’s time to make more shelf space, because the already available (and pretty sweet) Mega Man amiibo will soon have a gold variant. This new collectible will come with the 3DS version of the Mega Man Legacy Collection, which includes exclusive content that will become available using the figure. I’m not sure how rare this little bugger will be, but keep in mind that the Gold Mario is currently one of the hardest collectables to find. You can currently pre-order the bundle on the Best Buy website.
The bundle will set you back $49.99, which isn’t too bad if the the amiibo ends up being hard to find. Here are a few things to remember: the game itself is currently available digitally for $14.99 on the PlayStation and Xbox market place, and the actual physical copy–which launches on February 23, 2016–will set you back $29.99. You have to ask yourself if the hard copy of the game and figurine are worth the extra $25. Despite the fact that I obsessively collect these sorts of things, I’ll be passing on this one.
Aside from its golden glow, the Mega Man amiibo is identical to the one that’s currently available. I wouldn’t skip out on the 3DS version of the game, though, since it includes new in-game content. Since one of the best parts about the Legacy Collection is all of the extra challenges that are included for Mega Man veterans, adding more of those to the list is ace.
What do you think of the new golden addition to the amiibo family? Will you be purchasing it? Let us know in the comments below.
