If anyone out there reading this is considering a vacation to Japan, I have some news that just might seal the deal for you: Toho, the Japanese movie studio behind the beloved Godzilla franchise, is now building a Godzilla-themed movie theater, set to open this spring. The new multiplex will have a 39-foot bust of the King of the Monsters busting out of the theater’s rooftop, looking like he is ready to stomp all over the Shinjuku district and make residents flee in terror. The giant Godzilla head will have rooftop access for visitors, and of course also be illuminated at night, where Godzillaâs eyes and mouth will glow. He’ll also periodically unleash his signature scream (I’m sure the neighbors and local businesses are going to just love that).
But if a visit to the Godzilla-themed theater isn’t enough, you’re in luck: adjacent to the theater, there will be a new 30-story Hotel Gracery that will include a deluxe Godzilla-themed room, all for just $334 a night ($417 during weekends). The room will have a smaller version of everyone’s favorite kaiju, as well as various pieces of Godzilla movie memorabilia on display.
There will also be several more cheaply priced âGodzilla Viewing Roomsâ available for about $125 a night, where Godzilla will occasionally stroll past your room and decide that you aren’t worth incinerating with his atomic fire breath. The hotel officially opens on April 24th and is already accepting reservations. If you start saving your pennies now, Godzilla fans, you could even stay at the hotel next year in time to see Toho’s new Godzilla movie set to premiere in 2016.
