Glastonbury Festival Recreated to Miniature Scale in LEGO

The Glastonbury Festival is a bonafide British staple in musical and popular culture. Stateside, we have Bonnaroo, Coachella, South by Southwest, and a handful of other big draws, but none that have the history that Glastonbury has. To honor its zeitgeist-y importance, a team of LEGO artists have created a miniature scaled version of the festival for the upcoming LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort Miniland attraction. The festival’s iconic Pyramid Stage was even built according to official dimensions provided by the team who produces the annual Glastonbury Festival. “The Glastonbury Festival has become such a British institution, it truly deserves a place here in Miniland,” commented LEGOLAND Windsor Resort PR Manager, Lauren Moss. This set was built with nearly 10,000 LEGO bricks, more than half of which were used for the stage itself.

Any good music festival worth its salt has a mudslide for attendees to get all hippie-dippie-dirty in, and Glastonbury is definitely worth its salt. To add a touch of novelty and whimsy to the LEGO recreation, the Glastonbury Festival team sent the LEGO artists their own portion of mud from Worthy Farm (the Festival’s annual location) to help recreate the best parts of the event. Aside from the mud and Pyramid Stage, a miniature VIP area was built, along with a row of portapotties, or portaloos as the Brits call them (oh, you adorable Brits.)

Rather than use repurposed minifigs, each of the attendees and performers were created from scratch. That means the mini versions of Florence Welch, Roger Daltrey, Kanye West, Dave Grohl, and even Kim Kardashian, were all created with the scale of the LEGO Pyramid Stage in mind.
