Sometimes you don’t know what you need until you see it, and that’s the case with this comic crossover between Gilmore Girls and Murder, She Wrote. Think about it. Jessica Fletcher plus Lorelai and Rory Gilmore equals a joyous combination I’d enjoy for hours. Such a mash-up probably won’t happen on screen anytime soon (or ever, sigh), but it’s okay, because we have this comic shared exclusively with Nerdist by Elisabeth Allie.
The comic book page was gifted to Elisabeth by her husband, Scott (a Dark Horse Comics editor), and her son, Sid (he’s the redhead in the second panel in the comic), for her birthday. They took Elisabeth’s two favorite shows and combined them with the help of a veritable comics dream team. Writer Brian Michael Bendis tackled the script, artist Mike Norton handled the images, and colorist Dave Stewart and letter Nate Piekos of Blambot finished the page.

As you can see, this scene takes place after Lorelai ran away from the altar in season two. She was supposed to marry Max, but instead, she whisked Rory away on a road trip. They ended up visiting Harvard, and Lorelai eventually wound up with Lukeâleaving Max turned out to be the right decision. I was bummed about it at the time, though, so it’s a delight to see Jessica Fletcher pop up and have a chat with Lorelai and Rory.
Another fun fact Elisabeth pointed out to us? Jessica is wearing a stylish fish cardigan based on one worn in the series! Jenifer Spock-Rank made a replica of of said sweater for Elisabeth and now I feel like my closet is lacking because it has no fish-print anything.
I need to know: has this comic inspired you to write any fanfic? Drop to the comments and tell me about all the adventures you’re planning for Jessica and the Gilmore gals.
