GHOST RIDER is Coming to AGENTS OF SHIELD

It turns out all those Hellfire Chains printed on the sides of trains and buses wasn’t a misdirect after all. Marvel revealed just now, partially on the show floor of SDCC, that Ghost Rider is coming to Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. Now, if you have not been keeping up with the current Marvel comic book Universe, this Spirit of Vengeance might look a little different to you. For starters, he drives a car, not a motorcycle.

The Ghost Rider that’ll be raising hell on Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D is Robbie Reyes, for the recent All-New Ghost Rider. The series, written by Felipe Smith and drawn by the incredible Tradd Moore was tons of fun and one of Marvel’s coolest looking books. Moore’s design was a Ghost Rider like we have never seen before and the twist of having drive a sick muscle car as opposed to a motorcycle was a cool change of pace. Smith made Reyes and his supporting cast drastically different than the previous Spirits of Vengeance, which again added to the books uniqueness. If you have not read it, we highly, highly recommend check it out. Tradd Moore’s art alone is worth the cover price.

The addition of Ghost Rider to the television world is an interesting one. The character has already had to failed film attempts that starred Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze, probably the most well known Ghost Rider at that point. Of course, The Punisher has had a rough go cinematically, and his recent appearance in Netflix’s Daredevil series was a huge hit with fans, so maybe some TV time is exactly what Ghost Rider needs.

We also know that actor Gabriel Luna will be playing Reyes, so it looks like they are sticking with the young, inexperienced version of the character we saw in the comic series. All-New Ghost Rider was really, really great, so here’s hoping Marvel can capture that energy on the small screen. It’s going to require lots of special effects and lots and lots of fire in order to get the look right. Fingers crossed on this one, guys. Either way, vengeance is coming to Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D and we’ll have to wait until September to see if they are ready for it.
