GHOST IN THE SHELL Gets a Theme Song Remix From Steve Aoki

Somehow, and against all odds, everything new that hits from this film adaptation of Ghost in the Shell makes it look better and better. And today, we’re finally getting a real clip from the soundtrack.

Steve Aoki, world famous DJ (and son of the owner of Benihana restaurants) brings his signature dubstep sound to reinventing the original anime theme song–and the results are spectacular. This hard hitting beat mixed with the choir vocals is almost guarenteed to join Gym Playlists around the world. Ugh, it makes me want to go for a run right now.

Unfortunately, we only get about a minute of the full song here, snuck into a pretty standard trailer. Like everything else with this movie, we just want more. Now.

Based on the award-winning Manga, Ghost in the Shell revolves around Major (Scarlett Johansson) who is a cyber-enhanced anti-terrorism agent who can take over her enemies’ minds. When coming up against a new Big Bad, she learns that her reality is not what it appears, and she goes on a violent stop-at-nothing journey to recover her past from those who stole her life and twisted her present. Also, there are a lot of cool explosions and weird looking dudes. You’re in? We’re in.

So what do you think? Is Aoki’s interpretation exciting to you or is it too much of a departure from the original? Are you marking your calendar for this film or is the original all you need? Sound off in the comments below.
