– SPOILERS FOR ARROW SEASON THREE AHEAD –
Season three of The CWâs Arrow has been one insanity driven WTF moment after another, and it all began with the death of season twoâs heroine of excellence, Sara Lance, at the end of the premiere. Since then, weâve watched as Saraâs friends and family struggle to cope with their loss, one in particular taking things to another level entirely. And as anyone who knows DC lore is already aware, thereâs only one path it can lead to.
Now with some episodes under our belt, The CWâs is offering fans their first look at Laurel Lanceâs (Katie Cassidy) eventual costume when she finally dons a mask of her own as Black Canary:
Like the first reveal of Royâs Arsenal suit, we really like what weâre seeing here and canât wait to see it play into the context of the series.
Itâs starting to appear as if every season of Arrow is in some way focused on Oliver taking on and/or training a new member of his team. Season one was Diggle and Felicity, season two was Roy and Sara and now season three appears to be Laurel. Knowing that, we canât wait to watch Ms. Cassidy start kicking some major costumed butt on the show. Plus, it will also add a much needed layer of complexity to the ongoing relationship between Oliver and the last remaining Lance daughter.
Well done, Arrow. Well done.

Fine. I’ll say it: Those leather garters look dumb.
It matches the lameness of the name “Black Canary”
Something just seems off. I can’t place it; but something’s off. She looks more like a blonde cat woman than Black Canary. Then again, maybe I just miss Sarah. I thought she was a great Canary and understood what it meant to be a vigilante/dual identity.
Still a shame there’s no Sonic Scream, though, I always thought it was a cool power, and a neat subversion of the traditional ‘damsel in distress’ trope.
I feel like she’s going to get her Sonic Scream sometime in the future – whether she get captured because she’s in over her head and some new “big bad” inserts it into her manually – or some other way who knows!
But it’s still possible!
“Dawns” a mask? That doesn’t sound right.
It isn’t right. It would be “dons a mask.”
I’m halfway through Season Two and the actress who plays Laurel is AWFUL. Why couldn’t they kill off her character and keep the first Canary?
Man, you’re preaching to the choir here.
And Diggle is still donning a ski mask. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
