Are you ready for 1,440 minutes of colorful and gratuitous grinding? No, I’m not talking about the type of “grinding” you see in MMOs, nor am I talking about the type of grinding provoked by songs like Ginuwine’s timeless single “Pony.” I’m talking about grinding on the rails and powerlines of Sunset City, which you’ll have a full day to do when Sunset Overdrive becomes available on Xbox One this Saturday for a full 24 hours.
The game will become available free of charge promptly at 12:01 EST on November 22, and players will be able to both earn achievements, as well as carry all of their progress over should they choose to purchase the game after the 24 hour period lapses. Following the weekend, Insomniac will be showing off several new weapons that’ll become available very soon, just to further persuade players into returning.
This is a lovely idea by Microsoft, giving people a small taste of one of their triple A exclusives, the weekend before Black Friday. Players will even be able to tackle the 8-player chaos mode, should they progress far enough in Sunset Overdrive‘s main campaign to unlock the game’s multiplayer component.
Heading into Sunset Overdrive as a freshly spawned noob? The team at Insomniac has released a quick but to get new players up to snuff on how to traverse the game’s psychedelic environment. Check it out:
