There was a time when remixes really didn’t exist. Taking snippets from one art form — be it music (usually), film, or TV — and restructuring them into a new form was completely unheard of. At most, hearing a medley of collected songs was the closest thing to a remix the world ever had. Luckily we live in a time of true remix artistry. One those of the artists, in honor of the 2016 mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead, just gave the world a somewhat NSFW remix of the show.
Some may remember Mike Relm from his various remixing talents on his YouTube channel. He’s remixed content from Star Wars, Doctor Who, and even Old Spice commercials. His special brand of high energy EDM-inflected remixing skills have even been used on the one true sovereign leader of the Nerdist realm way back in 2012.
His Walking Dead remix is no exception to the large amount of energy he imbues into the music. Using the show’s theme as the the backbone, Relm makes use of gunshots and walker kills as added percussion and sprinkles in some potty-mouthed language from Rick and Shane for vocals. The juxtaposition of all sorts of walker-killing goodness in this intense remix serves as a 2 minute refresher to remind us how fantastic (and sometimes brutal) the show is. It’s almost like Relm invented musical zombie CliffsNotes.
We can’t think of a better tune to get ourselves psyched up for the mid-season premiere so we’ll likely have this on repeat until then. Let us know what you think of Relm’s remix in the comments below!
