Get Emotional with The New Trailer for INSIDE OUT

Adolescence is a turmoil-filled stage of life, and Pixar’s taking a close look at what it’s like to be a pre-teen in their next movie, titled Inside Out. Things change and your emotions are so out of control that you can’t always process what’s happening around you. If you don’t remember how moody and unpredictable you were around age 11, just read Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix again. Now, imagine we could look inside Harry’s head while he’s lashing out and examine his emotions. It would be fascinating to listen in on those discussions, and you’ll be able to get a peek inside the human brain in Inside Out.

The film directed by Pete Docter (Up) centers on Riley. She’s from the Midwest but moves to San Francisco with her family when her father gets a new job. Her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) – live at Headquarters, a control room inside Riley’s mind. They guide her through everyday life sort of like the angels and devils that occasionally sit our on shoulders. The full length trailer for Inside Out just dropped and reveals the world of emotions and how they influence their subjects. Watch:

While I was skeptical about the concept of Inside Out, this trailer pulls me on board. We don’t just see Riley’s Headquarters but also get to peek in at her mom and dad (by the way, such a cute move to have the emotions resemble their owners). That makes me think we’ll see the emotions of most people Riley encounters. The story might not span continents or oceans like other Pixar films, but remember, change is good.

In addition to the new trailer, Pixar has also released new character posters featuring the five emotions:

Inside Out arrives in theaters on June 19, 2015.

  1. Dave says:

They finally made a movie version of “Herman’s Head”!

  2. fullforce098 says:

Lewis is going to steal the show. And that’s awesome.

  3. Gabe Jackson says:

Looks like someone at Pixar was a fan of the Fox sitcom Herman’s Head…

  4. Abby says:

Confession – as a school psychologist, I love this!  Hopefully, it will be wildly popular and make my job easier when I’m teaching kids about emotions. 😉

  5. Wasn’t Harry Potter, Like, 15 in Order of the Phoenix?

    • Jamie says:

Harry was 11 in the first book. So in the Order of the Phoenix he would have been 15. Get it together people lol

    • Maria says:

And not only that, we ARE inside harry’s mind in the books since it’s narrated from his POV

      • Lori says:

Actually, we are not inside Harry’s mind in the book. The POV of the HP series is 3rd person Omniscient. If we were in Harry’s mind, the first line of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s/Philosopher’s Stone would have to be “My Aunt and Uncle, Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, are proud to say that they are perfectly normal, thank you very much. But me, I’m not.”
