This is apparently the week for learning more about Disney and Pixar’s projects. We gained more insight into Tomorrowland when Disney released the full trailer for the film yesterday, and now we get to see more of what’s happening in Pixar’s Inside Out. The newest trailer premiered on Ellen today and it takes us further inside 11-year-old Riley’s brain. We’ve already met the little voices who control Riley’s emotions–Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Bill Hader), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling)–and now we see that Joy and Sadness go on a bit of adventure inside Riley’s brain. While they try to find their way back to headquarters, the other three emotions are left in charge and you can imagine how well that goes. Take a look:
Hearing Poehler’s voice is filling the Leslie Knope-shaped hole in my soul, but besides that, Inside Out looks like it has some eserious heart. And not just because emotions are characters in the story. Inside Out already seems like a film that will stand apart, and not just in relation to Pixar’s existing portfolio. I feel reassured by seeing that we’ll visit various destinations inside Riley’s mind like Imagination Land and Dream Productions (Rainbow Unicorn!) with Joy and Sadness. The entire movie won’t be all about the view from mission control.
And here’s a quick featurette introducing the emotional cast:
Joy is Leslie Knope. I’m okay with this.
Inside Out will be in theaters on June 19.

“… it has some eserious heart.” Is that like Esurance?
