Last season, Red Reddington and the rest of the Blacklist gang took television audiences by storm, racking up record high DVR numbers and some of the highest ratings across broadcast television (let alone NBC individually) in years. Needless to say, one of the most anticipated premieres of the fall is the kick-off to the thrillerâs new season, and in case you need a refresher or full blown crash course in everything Red, the Fine Brothers have you covered in an all-new spoiler-filled recap titled The Blacklist In 1 Take In 9 Minutes:
As far as “everything you need to know” about the NBC drama, this covers it pretty well. Whatâs admirable about The Blacklist is that, while this recap may paint the picture of a series that does nothing but ask questions, it does answer them too. By the end of the season, we knew the answer to the most pressing question: why did Red turn himself into the F.B.I.? It was to protect himself from Berlin, a man we now get to spend all of season two getting to know.
Television mystery is fun, but only when audiences know they will be getting answers in the long run. Thatâs what made a series like Lost so admirable, it would answer the questions it asked, itâs just that those answers would ultimately lead to an even deeper mystery. Essentially, The Blacklist is using a similar strategy to conduct its story. Itâs answering the questions it asks, but those answers are leading to more questions that are sometimes even more compelling than their predecessor.
The Blacklist returns Monday, September 22nd at 10/9c on NBC.
