Geeky Blacksmiths Recreate Sauron’s Mace

What’s this my precious? YouTube channel AWE me released another episode of their hit show Man At Arms: Reforged just in time for the arrival of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies — which comes out tomorrow? So what will the team of blacksmiths be forging this time? In celebration of the last Hobbit film and by popular request, the crew will be making the iconic mace of Sauron.

Since the Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films (not Tolkien’s book) have included the rise of the malevolent necromancer Sauron — who will go on to make things quite difficult for Bilbo’s nephew Frodo and the rest of Middle Earth in The Lord of The Rings — this project couldn’t be more appropriate. Watch as the Baltimore Knife and Sword crew use their tools to craft a weapon that would have the hobbits, dwarves, elves, and men shaking in their assorted boots.

Using machines that anyone would be afraid to touch, The Stegmer brothers Kerry and Matt and the rest of their team replicated the deadly weapon seen in Jackson’s adaptation of LOTR. After the fascinating process was complete, they tested out the weapon to show just how powerful it was. The mace wielder easily demolished the likes of pumpkins, cement blocks, computer monitors and more. Put some dwarven armor in there!

If you’re interested in seeing more geeky goodness, the channel has a treasure trove of other delights including builds of Jon Snow’s sword Longclaw, Elric’s Spear from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and The Sword of Omens from Thundercat! If weapons aren’t your thing, they also have super cool makeup transformations and 3D chalk art that are nothing less than jaw dropping.

What did you think of their build of Sauron’s weapon of choice? What would you like to see them build next? Leave a comment below or hit me up on Twitter: @sam3214!
