Geek and Sundry Announces LARPS: THE SERIES

Update: Watch the first full episode right here right meow!

Our friends at Geek & Sundry are welcoming a new series to their network on January 16th, and it’s all about LARPing. Considering the YouTube channel covers a variety of other gaming topics and styles, introducing a show about live action role-playing makes perfect sense. LARPs: The Series focuses on a group of five friends who regularly play in a LARP together, but the scripted comedy isn’t only about their alter egos. We’ll see Evan (Jon Verrall), Arthur (Jonathan Silver), Will (Scott Humphrey), Shane (Elizabeth Neale), and Brittany (Charlotte Rogers) in their everyday, non-costumed lives and learn that while they’re not wizards or elves in the real world, there are parallels between it and the game. Watch the teaser:

Though LARPs: The Series has just arrived at the Geek & Sundry doorstep, the series has been in the works for over seven years. Director Julian Stamboulieh came up with the concept in 2007 and worked with producer Benjamin Warner and Verrall (he’s also a writer on the series) to turn the concept into a web series. The scripts came to life when they filmed the first season in 2013. When that first season was released, it caught the attention of Felicia Day. LARPs: The Series also garnered awards from the gaming convention Gen Con’s Film Festival and FilmQuest.

Geek & Sundry will re-release all 11 episodes in the first season of LARPs: The Series and support the production of season two. In fact, LARPs is already on the road towards shooting new episodes. You can keep up with all the latest news at the LARPs: The Series’ website and Facebook page.
