Gaming Daily: These Silver and Gold Mario Amiibo Figurines Look Awesome

With the D.I.C.E. Summit currently underway, and the exciting LEGO Jurassic World teaser released today, its been a pretty busy day in the world of gaming. Before you finish your day, we have a couple more video game related news items to run through so you can stay up to date on what’s going on. In today’s Gaming Daily, some guy completed a weaponless run of Dying Light, images of unannounced gold and silver metallic variants of the Mario Amiibo have been floating around the web, and the first expansion pack for the Sims 4 will be hitting shelves in April.

Mario Gold and Silver Amiibo Variants

Special Gold and Silver Mario Amiibo Variants to be released by Nintendo.

According to reports from around the web, a pair of Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) certificates posted to Nintendo’s website have revealed that gold and silver metallic variants of the Mario Amiibo will be released sometime in the future in an unknown capacity. While the certificates have since been removed, images of the toys have been floating around the web.

If Nintendo continues in their current trend of amiibo availability, these bad boys will probably be pretty near impossible to find once they release. Since they haven’t been officially announced yet, its hard to tell whether these will be limited to specific retailers like some entries in the toy line, or if they will be a special auction item.

This leak is especially interesting considering the design of the figurine matches the already announced Super Mario line scheduled for a March 20, 2015 release.  It would be neat to get shiny new variants of Luigi, Peach and Yoshi as well.

No weapons, no problem.

While ditching weapons and taking on enemies mano-a-mano is nothing new in the world of video game challenge runs, it was refreshingly frightening to see YouTube user BOYvsVIDEOGAME do a “No Weapons-Fists and Kicks Only” playthrough of Techland’s recently released survival horror game Dying Light. If you caught our review of the game from earlier this week, or have played it yourself, you’ll know how terrifying an impending zombie hoard on the brink of night would be if all you could rely on was parkour and your agile limbs.

This run just goes to show how varied the title’s gameplay really is. For the fist couple of chapters of the game, before finding a weapon that could deal decent damage, I hopped from roof top to roof top sometimes avoiding enemies entirely. Though getting my hands on a premium tool made breezing through the game a lot easier, continuing a non-combat (for the most part) run seemed entirely possible.

The Sims 4: Get to Work announced.

In addition to the above trailer, EA has revealed information on the first DLC pack for The Sims 4, scheduled to release sometime in April of this year. The pack dubbed Get to Work will feature three brand new careers with a fully playable career venue and the ability to create your Sims’ own retail business.

The new careers include: physician, detective, and experimental scientist. These will take place in place in three brand venues: Hospital, Police Station and Science Lab. There will also be a whole new set of skills for your Sim to hone in order to do things like take photos, and bake delicious delights.

Aliens– which have always been a supernatural staple of the charming series– will also be added with this DLC.

That’s it for today everybody. Keep Nerdist tabbed for all of the latest gaming news, reviews and features!
