Gaming Daily: ROCKET LEAGUE to Release on Other Platforms According to Developer

Well, would you look at that. You survived yet another weekend. Since I know you’re probably exhausted from all of the fun you had over the past couple of days, and are trying to figure out how you’ll be able to keep up with all of the Gamescom goodness going on this week, we’re here to keep you informed and up to date on all of the gaming-related news bits you may have missed. In today’s Gaming Daily: the developer of Rocket League is planning on releasing the game on other platforms, Vega is coming to Street Fighter V, Metal Gear Solid V multiplayer won’t be available until October, Konami is taking a 1984-esque “Big Brother” approach with staff, and production has begun for the Toby Turner hosted Legends of Gaming.

Rocket League developer is looking to port the game to other platforms.

Who would have thought a game about playing soccer with cars would have made the splash that Rocket League has? Seriously, I would have loved to have been in the room when the idea for Supersonic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars was pitched, but I digress. The good news is, the game’s success has led the game’s developer, Psyonix, to look into bringing the title to other platforms.

In an interview with GameZone, Jeremy Dunham, VP of marketing, stated, “Now that the game is doing as well as it’s doing and people really want to see [it on different systems], we’ve focused on [porting the game].” He continued, “We’re now in a position that we can expand our team. We are absolutely, 100 percent going to other platforms.”

While Dunham didn’t elaborate which consoles the developer would be releasing the title on next, I’m assuming that it will probably make its way onto the Xbox One, considering that it originally launched on the PS4 and PC. If they decide to go the handheld route, I could easily see it landing on the Vita or the Nintendo’s 3DS as well.

On why the game is only on two consoles at the moment, Dunham explained, “We wanted to make [sure] that it was very good, very polished, that everybody liked it, and the only way we could ensure that was to focus on two platforms.” With the addition of new team members, the studio should have enough resources to port it.

Capcom reveals Vega for Street Fighter V.

Whether Jamie Lee Curtis’ Vega cosplay at EVO 2015 was a sign or not, Capcom made fans of the fighter pretty happy today when they announced that Vega will be returning for Street Fighter V. The reveal trailer above shows the Spanish brawler using both familiar and new moves to make quick work of his opponent. As our own Malik already pointed out in his full article, Vega’s long blonde locks are looking rather perfect. I’d have to agree.

Metal Gear Solid V multiplayer won’t go online until October.

Although the game is due to launch September 1, which is a little less than a month from now, Konami revealed today that we won’t be seeing the online multiplayer component of the game until October 6th.

This bit of news comes straight from Konami’s official website, where they also revealed that the PC version of the game would be launching the same day as its console siblings.

The developer revealed: “As a result of the updated timing, console versions of Metal Gear Online will go live on October 6th, with the PC version set to release in January 2016.”

This news is obviously unfortunate, but I guess we’ll just have to be patient.

Konami Headquarters

Konami allegedly taking a “Big Brother” approach with employees.

Speaking of Konami, the famed developer/publisher got itself in some hot water today when Japanese media outlet Nikkei reported on the company’s controlling practices overseas. In short, working for the company includes being monitored by cameras, having email addresses randomized every few months, no internet access, and sadly, much more. Konami has yet to refute Nikkei’s findings, so until now, we can’t be sure whether or not it’s true.
