Gaming Daily: MONSTER HUNTER 4 ULTIMATE Gets New ZELDA-Themed DLC

Since many of you are probably still in awe of all of the two new Overwatch characters Blizzard revealed at PAX East, or have been busy attending the con yourself, we’ve gathered a couple of other news reports you may have missed throughout the day. In today’s Gaming Daily, the Zelda-themed content we’ve all been waiting for has finally hit Monster Hunter 4, the suspend/continue ability may be coming to PS4 soon, and Cryptic Studios has added Leonard Nimoy memorial statues to Star Trek Online.

Monster Hunter 4 just got some sweet new DLC, and it’s free!

Yep, that’s right. You won’t have to dig into your pocket for Monster Hunter 4‘s latest batch of DLC. The pack, which is out today, grants players brand new quests, equipment and most importantly, access to the Legend of Zelda-themed content we’ve been waiting ages for.

In addition to the Zelda stuff we will highlight in a minute, the pack includes 14 new quests, 11 new weapons, 4 complete armor sets and 3 Fan Club pieces. Also, the Universal Studios Japan gear finally comes to the West with this pack.

Now, for the big guns — er, swords, I should say. The Legend of Zelda collaboration gear is finally here! The pack contains Link’s Hero Armor, Hero’s Sword, and Hero’s Bow. But, there’s a catch: if you thought Capcom was just going to hand you the gear, you were wrong. In order to craft the items, you must collect the Triforce from three different enemies and defeat Akantor for the Goddess’s Fire.

PS4-SYSTEM-UPDATE-SUSPENSION-03062015

PS4’s Suspend Feature may be coming soon.

According to rumors floating around the web, and the above image–which has since been deleted–posted on Twitter by user @Heleius, the ability to suspend your games, apps, and other programs once the PS4 goes into rest mode may come in the 2.50 firmware update.

An image of a Sony email was also making the rounds on NeoGAF earlier today. It revealed that the company was in the process of beta testing the program for PS4 system updates and that invites would be sent out to PlayStation MVPs.

“The system can now enter rest mode without closing any applications,” read the update notes. “You can adjust this setting in [Power Save Settings] > [Set Functions Available in Rest Mode].” If you’re familiar with the Xbox One, you’ll know this is something the competing console can already do. This allows you to put the system on standby and pick back up where you left off in a game on your return. Want to grab a snack or take a bathroom break? This will probably make you happy.

NIMOY-TRIBUTE-STAR-TREK-ONLINE-03062015

Star Trek Online gets in-game Leonard Nimoy Memorial Statue.

After the sad news of Leonard Nimoy’s passing just last week, it’s good to see that an image of him will indeed “Live Long and Prosper” in Star Trek Online. To honor the late Mr. Spock, the team behind the Star Trek-themed game honored Leonard Nimoy with memorial statues placed in specific parts of the in-game universe.

In addition to the popular line displayed in the above picture, the phrase “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” was also listed on the statues. According to reports, this is just the first phase of a list of Nimoy tributes that Cryptic has planned.

Memorial plaques dedicated to others in the Star Trek family we’ve lost have also gone up. Black flags will start to be hung in Earth Spacedock, Qo’noS, and New Romulus to symbolize the loss of someone important.

That’s it for today everybody. Keep Nerdist tabbed for all your upcoming gaming news, reviews and features. Let us know what you think of today’s top stories in the comments below.
