Gaming Daily: MINECRAFT Celebrates Acquisition on CONAN, KILLZONE Devs Rumored New Game

Time certainly flies when you’re having fun. I mean look at this: we are already halfway through September, a realization that’s all sorts of gut-wrenching when deeply pondered. There are a lot of games left to play, so things may move a bit quicker than usual over the course of the next few months. That said, let’s stop wasting time talking about time, and get into today’s interesting gaming developments.

Conan O’Brien congratulates Mojang/Minecraft on their Acquisition.

Conan O’Brien has been able to make gaming content gold with his Clueless Gamer segments, and now he’s weighing in on other topics relevant to the industry. Last night, Conan congratulated Minecraft on their successful deal with Microsoft, and what transpired afterwards was certainly a hoot:

Alright, now wipe your beverage off of your keyboard and let’s move on.

Rumor: Guerilla Games moving on from Killzone to a new IP.

Killzone has set a new bar in console graphics for the last two generations of hardware, but has always come up a bit short on the gameplay side of things. An image surfaced on this Chinese forum, with the poster (an apparently reliable source) suggesting that the folks behind the Killzone franchise are off to their next project, and what it features is pretty off the chain: robot dinosaurs. Nothing is concrete on this one quite yet, but man, is this art badass or what? Fingers crossed that whatever this is, we hear about it at E3 next year.

Bungie adds activities and content to Destiny.

If you’re as heavily into Destiny as I am, then you know that today marks the first day that the six-player “Vault of Glass” raid mission is available. But that isn’t all that’s on the slate for the massive online shooter; not only is Bungie working to double the number of public events in the game, but they’re also looking to add frequently requested features into the fold as well. Looks like we may get those custom match lobbies after all if people keep nagging Bungie about them. I actually discussed Destiny‘s release with Jessica Chobot on today’s episode of PLAY, for anyone looking for second (and third) opinion.

BEWARE, THE NEXT STORY CONTAINS SUPER SMASH BROS. ROSTER SPOILERS. DO NOT PROCEED IF THIS IS A SENSITIVE TOPIC FOR YOU.

And here’s the full Super Smash Bros. roster for 3DS.

We already had a pretty good idea what the Super Smash Bros. roster was looking like, but this pretty much confirms our inklings. As you can see from above, the new Super Smash Bros. game is boasting Marvel vs. Capcom 2-like roster numbers, with plenty of options to dismantle your opponents in Nintendo’s exclusive fight club. Not pictured on here is Snake, Mewtwo and fan favorites like Squirtle and Bulbasaur, which I’m sure is getting Nintendo an ear lashing or two somewhere. Nevertheless, you can’t be mad at how robust this lineup is.
