Gaming Daily: Man Attempts to Hunt Down 57 Amiibo in One Day

Here comes the long weekend. We are so close to saying goodbye to our usual responsibilities for an extra long weekend. What I’m wondering is, which game are you planning on crushing this weekend? Some extra leisure time clearly means more gaming time, so will it be Mad Max, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, or some other title that has been begging to be played? Personally, I will be sprinkling in some Madden NFL 16 time, and of course, I’ll be inviting some friends over for some Fifa 15 goodness. As for the news. In today’s Gaming Daily: a YouTuber went on a quest to find all the amiibo in 24 hours, Hideo Kojima makes a surprise visit in an emotional Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain debriefing video, Mortal Kombat X will receive more content early next year, a Fallout 4-themed Monopoly game will be invading a Gamestop near you soon, and Xbox One/360 versions of MGS V might be dealing with more severe issues.

Amiibo

YouTuber finds 52/57 amiibo within a 24 hour time-span.

Apparently Australia does’t have the same amiibo scarcity issue that we in the States have dealt with since the little buggers launched. Australian YouTuber, UnlistedLeaf (aka. Ando) has posted a video where he goes on a quest to find all 57 amiibo currently available. The catch: he is attempting this feat with a 24 hour limit. How is that even possible? Well, he doesn’t accomplish it, but he does find 52 out of the 57 in just a few hours. Let your amiibo jealousy ensue. Just watching this infuriates me, as each shop he walks into has stacks of what are usually considered rare figurines. What’s also impressive is that he goes on this magical quest wearing Yeezys– you know, rare kicks. Witness the events unfold in the video above.

According to Ando, this idea stemmed from an image he tweeted of all the amiibo located in his local game shop. Many were surprised at the sheer number of variant collectable toys that were at his disposal, so naturally he made this video.

Removing my green-tinted glasses, it’s insane how easily Ando is able to find some toys that go for upwards of hundreds of dollars. Though he didn’t complete his quest, I’d say missing out on only 5 is a big win. Congrats, UnlistedLead, well played.

Hideo Kojima makes special visit in emotional MGS V debriefing video.

28 years is a long time. That’s how long Hideo Kojima has been working on the Metal Gear series. This man has dedicated his life to these games, and with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain finally hitting retailers, it’s bittersweet knowing this is probably the last time he works on the franchise. Despite the messy break-up between Hideo Kojima and Konami, the company took the time to release a 10-minute video praising the legend. It quickly becomes emotional as we say goodbye to an era. Towards the end, Kojima makes a visit to the family of Sean Paul Gillespie, a cancer patient who has since passed. He visits the family to deliver the finished product, as we learn that Sean sent an encouraging email to the developer that was a huge inspiration to the team. Sean tragically did not make it, but he is not forgotten by Hideo Kojima and the team.  A moment of silence for Sean Paul Gillespie.

Mortal Kombat X will receive more DLC.

After new characters being teased yesterday by NetherRealms studio’s creative director creator, Ed Boon, Warner Brothers has confirmed that more DLC is on its way to the violent fighter Mortal Kombat X. The new characters were teased through the image above, but we still don’t know who these new combatants are. Apparently, the new content won’t just be limited to new characters, as skins and a stage will also be included. You can expect part of the batch to drop early next year. It seems like we might get more information this week.

The last batch of DLC for the game was the Kombat Pack, which included: Jason Voorhies, Tanya, Predator, and Tremor. It’s difficult to speculate on who else will be joining the roster, because the image doesn’t provide much of a hint, other than it being 4 different characters.

Mortal Kombat X is easily one of the best in the series. We don’t expect another installment for a while, so continuous support for the bloody title is appreciated. I’m all for this if it keeps the community invested. Also, if you’ve yet to hear the news, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game have been cancelled. Now might be a great time to get the current-gen versions.

Fallout 4-Themed Monopoly on its way.

Do you need your Fallout fix? Have you done everything that there is to be done in Fallout Shelter? If you find yourself in that category, then it’s time to get excited for this Fallout 4-themed Monopoly game that will be making its way exclusively to a GameStop near you. Images of this little nugget started surfacing yesterday, but was officially announced by the Fallout Twitter account today. No date was shared, though USAopoly — the official Instagram account of the board game designer —stated it will be making its debut this November. It would make sense to launch the same date as Fallout 4, that way you can take a break from your screen to yell at your friends over the board game. Expect more details on what tokens will be included, and hopefully an image of the actual board.

Metal Gear Solid V

Xbox One and Xbox 360 Versions of MGS V may be experiencing more severe problems.

It wouldn’t be a AAA launch without server issues. If you’ve been playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain this week, then you know it’s having some online problems. As of right now, it seems like every platform is having a tough time. Game Informer has done a little digging around, noticing a big difference between the English and Japanese servers status pages. For the most part everything is the same, but the Japanese page has a section in red that the English version doesn’t include. According to Game Informer, it roughly translates to a warning that the a resolutions to issues on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 have been difficult. So, allow some days for a fix to arrive.

Before jumping to any conclusions, this could just be a problem in Japan, but many Xbox owners from all over have reported inability to get into the servers. Konami hasn’t clarified the situation. If this isn’t isolated only to Japan, then there shouldn’t be any reason Western fans shouldn’t be warned–especially since the problems plaguing the Xbox 360 and One might be more severe.
