Gaming Daily: Lynda Carter Wrote 5 Original Songs for FALLOUT 4

It’s hard to believe, but Nerdoween is officially done and over with. Hopefully you were able to enjoy the festivities this weekend. I spent most of mine hanging out with friends, playing some Rock Band 4, and getting in a decent amount of Destiny time. But, now that November is here, news has been running rampant about a couple of upcoming games. In today’s Gaming Daily: original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter wrote 5 original songs for Fallout 4 and has a part in the game, Metal Gear Solid V is discounted on Amazon, Bioware doesn’t plan on announcing anything related to Mass Effect: Andromeda on N7 day, Jessica Chobot stars as Samus Aran in fan-made Metroid short, and Sony is purposefully holding back footage of The Last Guardian.

Lynda Carter wrote 5 original songs for Fallout 4, has role in game.

You guys! It’s finally November, which means Fallout 4 is almost here! It’s so close we can taste it! Okay, maybe not taste it, but the game is releasing in 8 days, and we’re excited. With the game literally around the corner, Bethesda dropped some exciting news regarding the tunes you’ll be listening to as you trek across the wasteland. In addition to artists we’re used to hearing in the series, the developer revealed that Lynda Carter, who famously portrayed Wonder Woman in the ’70s TV show, wrote 5 original songs for Fallout 4, and would be voicing the in-game “heroic” singer Magnolia

“We’ve been friendly with Lynda for a long time,” stated Todd Howard in an interview with Bethesda. “She’s done voices in most of our games. A lot of people don’t know that she’s also a really accomplished singer. She has a Grammy-award-winning band, and she tours. That’s actually how she came up, initially. When we started this game, I wondered if Lynda would do some original music. Because it’s not like music stopped.”

On the collaboration, Carter explained, “Todd had faith in me, because he had heard some of the other stuff I had written before. Plus, I’m working with a Grammy-winning songwriter, John Jarvis, and Kerry Marx, one of the great guitarists out of Nashville. Then we got the top session players in Nashville together, including my musical director/drummer Paul Leim, and legendary horn player, Blue Lou Marini, and went into a studio to record the songs.”

For more on the collaboration, check out Bethesda’s full interview.

Metal Gear Solid V

Metal Gear Solid V discounted on Amazon

Speaking of November, in a couple of weeks, tons of people will be flocking to stores to take advantage of some sweet Black Friday sales. Amazon, however, decided to start the fun early by discounting several games including Metal Gear Solid V (which is now $39.99 instead of $59.99) and the Game of the Year edition of Dragon Age: Inquisition (which is now only $39.99). If you’ve been on the fence about purchasing either of these titles, we suggest acting fast before they sell out.

Bioware doesn’t plan on announcing anything big for Mass Effect: Andromeda on N7 day.

Man, November is a great month, isn’t it? We’re only a few days away from November 7th (a.k.a. N7 Day), and the Mass Effect fan in us couldn’t be more excited. Although many have been speculating that Bioware has been prepping to announce some Mass Effect: Andromeda news this Saturday, I have some bad news for you. According to a post on the developer’s blog, they won’t be announcing anything major for Andromeda.

They will, however, be retweeting fan images/memories tagged with #N7Day on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Additionally, the developer will be hosting an Extra Life Marathon Stream where they’ll be playing through the entirety of the Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC, chatting with fans, and giving away prizes. They’ll also be discounting several items in their online store for a limited time.

Bioware has been keeping details regarding Andromeda pretty close to the chest since it was originally announced. Though we’re sad that we won’t be seeing anything new this weekend, we’re hoping they have a substantial amount to show off sometime soon.

Jessica Chobot stars as Samus Aran in fan-made Metroid short.

We’ve had our fair share of video game-to-film adaptations, but have yet to see one based on Metroid. While we’ll still have to wait on a big screen adaptation, the folks at Rainfall Films released a fan-made short titled Metroid: The Sky Calls, over on their YouTube channel. While watching a live-action version of Nintendo’s famous bounty hunter blast away alien scum is pretty awesome, we’re pretty stoked that it’s our very own Jessica Chobot in the role. Check it out above, and read our full post (linked below) for more information.

Last Guardian

Sony has been purposefully holding back footage of The Last Guardian

When The Last Guardian didn’t show up at TGS earlier this year, a lot of people were worried, and rightfully so. We’ve been waiting on the title for so long that it was surprising that the developer didn’t have anymore to show. When GameSpot probed Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida about the title, he explained that Sony was holding back footage of the game on purpose.

“Development is going well, but because it’s about the story, we don’t want to show too much,” Yoshida told GameSpot in a recent interview. “We wanted to show that it exists, it works, it runs. It’s not like we won’t show anything before launch, but I think we will try to limit what we show about the game.”

The game is slated for a 2016 release, so we’re sure they’ll show a lot more before launch. I guess we’ll just have to keep waiting. I mean, it’s not like we aren’t used to this or anything. We’ve had a ton of practice.
