Gaming Daily: Konami May Be Planning to Make a New METAL GEAR Game

Tuesdays are never kind to my wallet. It’s usually the day when retail shelves are filled with new titles, and though I’m not interested in the new games this week (sorry Need for Speed), new LEGO Dimensions figures are out today. So, my already incredibly cluttered shelf is now displaying a Doctor Who LEGO figure. I may need to find a new way of displaying these collectibles. Alas, it’s time to talk about today’s news. In today’s Gaming Daily: Konami may be planning a new Metal Gear Solid game, Fallout 4 emojis and gifs are now available, 105 games have been added to PlayStation Now, Activision acquired Candy Crush maker, and Destiny has 25 million players registered.

Metal Gear Solid V

Konami may be planning another Metal Gear Solid title.

New rumors have surfaced stating that Konami is discussing a new Metal Gear Solid game. The report comes from Japanese publication Nikkei via 2ch, which is usually pretty credible. With all that has gone on with Konami and Hideo Kojima, it’s really hard to know how to feel about this rumor. Most reports have Kojima having already departed the company, so that would mean he’d have zero to do with the next installment.

I’d much rather have Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain be the last installment in this storied franchise, than get a game with the title, but lacking in the Kojima magic. If true, this also contradicts reports of Konami leaving the AAA space. MGSV‘s success may have also been enough to make them rethink their position.

Again, this is only a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. Plus, it has been hard to figure out what the company is up to these days.

Fallout 4 emojis and gifs introduced in new app.

Bethesda has released a new application for IOS and Android devices, which allows you to turn any boring chat with friends into a good time. Fallout C.H.A.T. (short for Communications Hub and Transmitter) is a keyboard full of Vault-Tec emojis and gifs that can be shared in texts and social media. It’s a blast putting these together. You can check out your phone app store to get it now.

105 games added to PlayStation Now.

It seems like Sony has not completely forgotten about PlayStation Now–even if we have. The company has added 105 new titles to the service, bringing the count up to 250 available games. Of the 105 new titles added, 21 of them come from Capcom. Resident Evil fans in particular will have plenty to play. Other notable titles added include a couple of Mega Man classics, and even a few Street Fighter gems.

PlayStation Now hasn’t been the huge success that Sony believed it would be, but at least they are continuing to support the service. It’s a really lame way of supporting backwards compatibility, especially now that Microsoft has found a more consumer friendly way of granting access to last-gen games.

Candy Crush Image

Activision acquires Candy Crush maker.

Activision announced that they have acquired Candy Crush maker, King Digital. That may not be shocking, but the dollar figure might be surprising. Activision spent a whopping $5.9 billion to make this acquisition. Just for comparison, Disney spent about $4 billion to nab Marvel, and close to the same amount for Star Wars. It’s seriously insane to think of the large sum of currency that was spent for this company.

Destiny keeps on succeeding.

As much hate that is thrown Destiny’s way, it seems like the game is incredibly successful. After making the headlines yesterday for purchasing the team behind Candy Crush, Activision has announced that 25 million players are now registered in the game, with people averaging about 3 hours a day on the game. Now, that’s impressive.

These numbers don’t mean that 25 million people play every day, but it does mean that a massive amount of gamers have at least logged in once. Activision has also estimated that about 5 million new users have joined fray in the last few months. There’s no doubt that Destiny: The Taken King is partially the reason new users are logging in. These numbers are really unheard of when talking about a new IP.
