Gaming Daily: Jake and Sackboy Team up in LITTLE BIG PLANET 3 DLC

Let us ponder on this Wednesday afternoon, about how this may finally be the year that nerd culture finally takes over. The Avengers are as popular as they have ever been with Age of Ultron releasing soon in the states and Star Wars is finally making a come back. Life couldn’t get any better, right? Allow us to prove you wrong.  Indulge in today’s Gaming Daily: Little Big Planet 3 gets new Adventure Time DLC, Microsoft will bring HoloLens to E3, and Star Warsthemed items have been added to PSN.

LBP ADVENTURE TIME

Adventure Time Joining Sackboy in Little Big Planet 3.

Do you love Sackboy? How about Jake and Finn? If you answered yes to both of those questions, then you may want to hop on PSN right now. That’s right, the Land of Ooo has made its way into Little Big Planet 3 with an Adventure Time level kit and some popit costumes. The level pack is $4.99 and includes a playable gallery level that will include all of the items needed for players to create their own masterpieces, while the costume pack is also $4.99 and includes costumes of Finn, Jake, Ice King, Gunter, and The Cosmic Owl for your sack people. Or you can opt to purchase each costume separately for $1.99.

Here is a list of everything that’s included in the level kit:

  • 16 Materials, 4 Objects, 25 Decorations, 81 Stickers to design with!
  • 2 Original Music tracks (“A Blip and a Bubble”, “Manlorette Party”), 1 Interactive Music track (“Zombie Loop”) and 3 Cinematic Stingers (“Tragedy of Jake”, “Level 1″ and “Distortion Dirge”) by original Adventure Time composer, Tim Kiefer.
  • Land of Ooo Level Background
  • A Bonus Fionna Costume

Adventure Time and LBP are definitely popular with children so this cross-over makes a lot of sense. Besides, there are few things in this world cuter than seeing Oddsock in a Jake costume.

Glance into the future with Microsofts HoloLens at E3.

Whether you are of the mindset that virtual reality is the future or not, both Microsoft and Sony have invested heavily in this thought. While Sony’s Morpheus seems to be solely focusing on gaming, Microsoft’s Hololense is all about enhancing our daily lives. That doesn’t, however, mean they are forgetting about the gaming crowd. They have announced today that they will be showcasing the headset at E3 this year.

There wasn’t much talk about video game implication when the HoloLens was revealed so with any luck we will see some more game projects utilizing the technology. The most exciting thing about the Hololens is that it seems much more practical that any other VR headset we have seen. It looks like something straight out of a Scifi film.

It is too early to project just how successful Microsoft can be in the VR realm since there are so many variables unanswered yet. A few things like pricing, applications, and whether it even works the way it is supposed to are just a few factors that can change the trajectory of the Hololens. For all we know it can turn into another 3D television situation.

Star Wars Theme

PlayStation Network gets new Star Wars goodies including a Millennium Falcon theme.

With May 4th, better known as Star Wars Day, just around the corner, Sony has decided to add some goodies from a Galaxy far, far, away to their online shop. In celebration of the greatest film trilogy (the prequels never happened) Sony has added 4 new PS2 classics on PSN that are playable on the PS3. The titles included are: Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and Star Wars: Racer Revenge. I don’t know what constitutes them as being “classics” other than being older titles found on PS2 but hey, no complaining here. Each game is 25% off this week only.

Now for what I believe to be the best gift for fans of the grand epic– a free Millennium Falcon theme for your PS4/PS3. The poor Vita is once again forgotten.Unfortunately to get complete enjoyment out of all these items it means you must drag out the dinosaur that is the PS3. Star Wars is worth it though.

With EA and Sony teaming up for some Battlefront marketing, it is a great move for the Japanese mega-company to get the masses excited about Star Wars again. Though, that’s not very difficult.

That is the end to another great Wednesday with plenty of news to digest. It is starting to feel like the 1980’s again with all this Star Wars love and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Fly your imaginary Millennium Falcon down to the comments section below and let us know what plans you have for May 4th. Now, excuse me while I go make my Finn inspired LBP3 level.
