Gaming Daily- IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA’s Rob McElhenney to Direct MINECRAFT Movie

What a day! From revisiting the awesome WarCraft movie panel at Comic-Con with our very own Michele Morrow, to an insightful chat with Camilla Luddington, we’ve had our hands full as is, despite it being another dry day for video game news. In today’s Gaming Daily: the Minecraft movie has a director, Leoric is available in Heroes of the Storm, the Capcom Pro Tour moves to PlayStation 4, and more.

Rob Mc

Rob McElhenney will direct the Minecraft movie.

You may know him for masterminding the wild adventures of Mac– who he stars as– Dennis, Charlie, Dee and Frank in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but soon you will know him as the guy telling the story of Steve. Rob McElhenney has signed on to direct the Minecraft movie, as announced by Mojang earlier today. It was previously rumored that Night at the Museum‘s Shawn Levy was in talks to direct the movie, but I can’t say that I’m disappointed with Warner Bros. going in a different direction.

In fact, this makes the Minecraft movie sound even more appealing than before. I was already on board when I heard that Roy Lee, who’s best known for his work on the smash hit LEGO Movie, would possibly be a part of this films production. The off-the-wall humor often seen in It’s Always Sunny would be a great fit for the Minecraft universe, and encompass the soul of the many hilarious Let’s Play videos we see on youtube. Consider me sold!

Crash-Bandicoot-Animated-Series

Check out Sony’s derailed Crash Bandicoot animated series.

Did you know Crash Bandicoot was once an animated series? Well, that was until Sony left the show to die. It was said to be inspired by Animaniacs, but eventually faded off as just a proof of concept. There’s a lot more to read on this right here, so be sure to get the full story. And if you can make it through the entirety of the thwarted show’s theme song, I’ll give you some wumpa fruit for your troubles.

Leoric

Leoric has arrived in Heroes of the Storm.

The Skeleton King has arrived! Leoric is now available to try and/or buy on Heroes of the Storm. His set of abilities brings possibly the craziest after-death gameplay out of any of the Heroes roster. When Leoric dies, he becomes a wraith who’s able to slow opponents within his vicinity. Slowing opponents will reduce his death timer and– here’s the kicker– he respawns wherever his wraith form is located. This can be dangerous when trying to control areas of the different battlegrounds– mainly because Leroic doesn’t have to respawn back at his base like the other characters, giving him a huge position advantage.

Leoric is part of a string of characters featured in the Heroes of the Storm in-game event called Eternal Conflict, wish is themed around the Diablo franchise. We’ve already gotten our hands on Johanna and the Butcher, two Heroes who have certainly changed the game and the way many approach their team compositions. Now to here more about that Monk!

So don’t stress your vocal cords out too badly screaming in excitement over the first look at Bethesda’s full line of Fallout 4 figurines, all of which were unveiled earlier today. It should also be noted that these are available for pre-order now, so you can unload your bottle caps on these as fast as you’d like. Capcom

The Capcom Pro Tour, and fighting games in general, have operated on mostly Xbox platforms over the last generation. That’s about to change here in the West, however, as Capcom has announced that all Pro Tour events happening in the Americas are switching over to PS4. Ultra Street Fighter IV will now be played on the PS4 moving forward, rendering thousands of players’ fight sticks obsolete. Ouch!

This was inevitable when you consider Street Fighter V‘s exclusivity on the PlayStation 4. Let’s just hope that Street Fighter V functions with a lot more stability than the next-gen version of Ultra Street Fighter IV. If anything, at least the online will work properly, assuming the beta trial that’s happening later this week proves useful.

That about wraps it for Tuesday’s Gaming Daily. Always keep it parked here on Nerdist for all of the huge video game developments, and to chat about our beloved medium, I’m only one tweet away: @Malik4play.
