Welcome back from what I’m sure was another busy, yet fun-filled weekend. I hope you had enough downtime to dig into a video game of your choosing, especially as we inch closer to the next batch that’s set to hit consoles over the next few months. I for one have been sucked back into Destiny thanks to the The Taken King. It’s going to be hard to put that one back on the shelf for a while to play something else. Since playing games is only half the excitement, I’ve rounded up some recent news to keep you informed and up to date. In today’s Gaming Daily, Fallout 4 won’t be getting any DLC exclusives, Halo 5: Guardians got a somber new live-action trailer, things aren’t looking too hot for the PS Vita at the moment, get a behind-the-scenes look at Platinum Games’ Transformers: Devastation, and Konami reiterates that Metal Gear can live on without Kojima at the helm.

None of Fallout 4‘s DLC will be platform exclusive.

One of the ways companies have been trying to 1up each other is by offering either complete or timed platform exclusivity. While seeing it done with entire games (we’re looking at you Rise of the Tomb Raider) is annoying, there’s nothing as pointless as doling out exclusive dlc content to a particular console–especially if said content is timed. You got a few maps a month or two earlier? Good for you. But, I digress.

When a fan asked Bethesda’s Pete Hines whether Fallout 4 DLC content would be coming to the Xbox One first, he responded:

Well there you have it folks, it looks like we’ll all be enjoying Fallout 4’s DLC at the same time. Imagine that.

The Universe mourns Master Chief’s death in Halo 5 live action trailer.

Chief? Chief?! Chieeeeeeeeef!!!! Okay, that might be an incorrect reference, but I couldn’t resist. In the latest live-action trailer for Halo 5: Guardians, things aren’t looking so good for our favorite Spartan. According to the reporter in the clip, John 117 (aka The Master Chief) perished while on duty. As the world mourns, the woman tells everyone to stay strong and fight. While the trailer had a lot of fans worried that the Chief would be no more, we know for certain he is in the game. In fact, Locke and his group are hunting down the famed Spartan. There’s no telling what will happen to him over the course of it, however. But, we’re assuming that there is either a cover up, or he’ll be deemed M.I.A.

According to Sony’s Shuehei Yoshida, the current climate is “not healthy” for dedicated handheld games consoles.

Speaking of things not looking so good, what the heck is going on with the Vita? Wait, let me make a correction. What the heck has been going on with the Vita since it launched back in 2012? The last I checked, it has a ton of games to play, is built pretty well, but still isn’t selling. According to Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, a lot of it has to do with the accessibility of smart phones.

During EGX 2015, Shu told Eurogamer: “People have mobile phones and it’s so easy to play games on smartphones.” He added, “And many games on smartphones are free, or free to start.

He continued, “I myself am a huge fan of PlayStation Vita and we worked really hard on designing every aspect. Touch-based games are fun – there are many games with really good design. But having sticks and buttons make things totally different.” He added, “So I hope, like many of you, that this culture of playing portable games continues but the climate is not healthy for now because of the huge dominance of mobile gaming.”

As of right now, both the Nintendo 3DS and the PS Vita have sold less than the Nintendo DS and PSP–which preceded them. Though the 3DS is a big seller, he does have a point about the climate not being healthy. We can only hope things turn around. I for one love both the Vita and the 3DS for completely different reasons, and would favor either over a mobile game any day of the week.

Activision takes you behind the scenes of Transformers: Devastation.

If you like Transformers and Beat ’em up games, I’d like to remind you that Platinum Games’ Transformers: Devastation is coming to the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on October 6. With the original voice actors set to reprise their roles, exciting gameplay, and the ability to control Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack and Grimlock I know I’m definitely going to be putting aside some playtime. With the launch two weeks away, Activision launched a special video to take fans behind the scenes. According to Konami, Metal Gear Solid Can continue without Kojima.

Will the Konami madness never end? After Kojima’s messy departure from Konami–which included the company removing his name from MGS V: The Phantom Pain‘s cover–they told fans that the franchise would be still be able to continue. Despite rumors that they’re getting out of the console business for good, Konami’s community manager Graham Day reiterated to Game On Daily last week that the company is still dedicated to the series.

In regards to taking a different path, he explained, “Metal Gear is about the story and the characters,” he said. “If you look at things like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance – that was an example of the title being taken in a new direction by separate teams with hands-in from other parties. And that, in itself, was a very, very good game led by a completely different team.”

On the rumors of their departure from the console business, he insisted, “Don’t believe everything that you read in the press. [Our commitment to console games] has never changed, but things have been taken out of context. Konami has a history of making the best games around, and that’s something that will continue.”

I guess we won’t have to worry…for now.
