Gaming Daily: Evie is Back for More in AC SYNDICATE’s Jack the Ripper DLC

With the PlayStation Experience firmly in the past, the only thing I’ve been able to think about this week is the premiere of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens next week. It’s hard to believe that the film we’ve all been obsessing about over the past few years is going to be in front of our eyeballs exactly one week from today. I know, the wait is probably excruciating. But, luckily I’m here with a healthy dose of gaming news to keep you informed and entertained while you wait. In today’s Gaming Daily, Ubisoft released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Jack the Ripper DLC, “Console Wars” is coming to Gallery1988 tomorrow, Techland revealed more details for the free Dying Light DLC based on the Destiny/Red Bull spoof, Dogmeat is available in Fallout Shelter, and Minecraft Wii U might be compatible with voice chat and USB keyboards.

AC Jack the Ripper

The Jack the Ripper DLC trailer is here, alongside the release date!

Earlier this year, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin’s Creed Sydnicate would be getting DLC based on Jack the Ripper, but we’ve heard next to nothing about a release date–until today. The developer took to the web to drop an exciting story trailer for the expansion, as well as announce the official date. Aside from the clip being really cool, the best part about today’s unveiling was that the DLC is releasing on December 15. If you’re keeping track, that’s next week!

As you’ll note in the trailer at the top of the page, the content follows Evie Frye. But, with the events in the base game having taken place back in 1868, and the Jack the Ripper events taking place in 1886, the female Frye twin is much older than we last saw her. As for Jacob, he’s nowhere to be seen, but I have a sneaking suspicion he’s Jack. Jacob. Jack. Yeah, I can definitely see that happening. Either that, or he’s related to the Fryes.

The DLC will cost you $14.99 on it’s own, but is also included in the $29.99 season pass.

Art By Brad Hill

The “Console Wars” exhibit is coming to Gallery1988 tomorrow.

If you’re in the L.A. area, and are a big fan of art and gaming, you’re going to like this next one. The folks at the Los Angeles-based Gallery1988 are hosting a super cool exhibit tomorrow, from 7-9PM, titled “Console Wars.” A few of the pieces that will be displayed during the show have already hit the web, and we’re impressed. My current obsession is with Brad Hill’s fun take on Peppy Hare’s iconic phrase “Do a barrel roll!”

Techland details free Dying Light DLC

Back in June, Activision announced a marketing campaign that offered DLC to fans who purchased Red Bull. As a joke, the folks behind Dying Light poked fun at it by asking fans to tweet out pictures of themselves drinking plain old water alongside the hashtag: #DrinkForDLC, and the promise of new content if certain goals were reached. Techland followed up on the content today, providing more details on the game’s official Twitter account. Check it out in the tweet above.

As the images indicate, fans will be receiving a new water-themed blueprint for an electrifying throwable weapon, new parkour challenges centered around water, and a new quest called “The Fountain of Youth.” I, for one, can’t wait to check it all out.

The new content will be included in a free update, as well as in the Dying Light: The Following–Enhanced Edition, which is set to release on February 9. Are you planning on diving back into the game? I know I am!

Dogmeat has arrived in Fallout Shelter

I know Fallout 4 probably stole your attention as soon as it launched, but I’m still a big fan of Fallout Shelter, especially after Bethesda’s recent announcement. Dogmeat, the lovable canine companion seen in the latest game, is coming the the popular mobile title. That’s pretty much the best news ever! In addition to Dogmeat, your dwellers will be able to have several other animal companions. The update also brings new flirting tactics, the ability to evict dwellers, and a “sell all” option for getting rid of inventory.

Minecraft Wii U

Minecraft Wii U might support Voice Chat/USB keyboard.

Well this is interesting. According to a fan post on Reddit by Gamestoper, Minecraft is supposedly going to support voice chat, USB keyboards (for messaging), and the pro controller when it launches on the Wii U on December 17. The information was supposedly spotted on Nintendo’s Japanese eShop listing for the title, but Nintendo has yet to comment on the rumor, so we don’t know whether or not it is actually true.

If it is, it stands in stark contrast to Splatoon, which released earlier this year. If you remember, the developer behind that title decided against including voice chat with the multiplayer shooter, because of the negativity usually involved in online play. That doesn’t really have anything to do with Minecraft, but it’s worth pointing out. For a game so dependent on cooperation, including the feature is a must.
