Now that we’ve opened up the world of Game of Thrones to flashbacks after last season, fans are even more rampant about their use in the next season, as the show seemingly prepares to answer the parentage mystery of a one Know-Nothinger that it hinted at all last season. So, naturally, when a green-eyed young lad named Sebastian Croft popped up as a confirmed casting, speculation went into overdrive. Over on Watchers on the Wall, even, they’ve surmised that this may or may not be a young Ned Stark comin’ onto the scene.

Now none of this is confirmed—because of course it’s not, they won’t even tell us whether or not Jon Snow lives even though he’s been seen galavanting around Belfast fer crissakes—but their argument for Croft as the baby iteration of the Noble elder Stark feels fairly valid. After all, Ned’s green eyes were a notable part of his appearance, and the casting call for all three of the young boys (including one with green eyes specifically) included a requirement that they were proficient in northern accents. From our initial post on the casting notices:

• And last is the 7-year-old boy with “dark brown hair, a narrow face, and green eyes. He also has a Northern accent. He also spars with the wooden sword, the description stating that the character is being ‘introduced,’” meaning the duration of the role is at this time unknown.

Looks like a baby Stark, doesn’t he?

Of course, there’s always the chance this is some sort of bait-and-switch: could it be a Young Griff type? Maaaybe, but that one, personally, sure feels like a stretch. A flashback to the younger days of Ned Stark, Brandon Stark, and Robert Baratheon makes a lot more sense in terms of where the story’s going. Especially if we want to get to the bottom of—ugh spoilers, we guess?—who exactly Jon Snow’s real parents are, essentially confirming what we’ve believed to be true all along.
