GAME OF THRONES Season 6 Finally Has a Premiere Date

Well, we finally know when winter is set to arrive: on Thursday at the Winter Press Tour stop of the 2016 Television Critics Association, HBO President Michael Lombardo announced when the sixth installment of the epic TV adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire will premiere. And if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you should mark your calendars now for April 24, 2016.

At long last, at 9 pm on that Sunday, we will likely find some answers for the major questions that were left at our feet at the end of season five. (Spoilers, naturally, are ahead.) Will Jon Snow come back to life? (Durr.) Is Arya blind forever? Does Tyrion have what it takes to lead Meereen in Dany’s absence? Did Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy survive their plunge from Winterfell? And where, exactly, is Dany? WE HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS, YOU GUYS!

But we’re also going to get answers to questions we didn’t know we had, either, as this season will finally overtake the books in terms of telling George R.R. Martin’s story—something he’s recently been lamenting about on his blog. “I tried, and I am still trying,” he wrote. But still, “The Winds of Winter is not finished.” Martin, HBO, and fans alike had all hoped that the author would finish the sixth installment—the aforementioned Winter—before the television show premiered.

Are you looking forward to the sixth season of Thrones? Have any theories you want to discuss? Let us know in the comments!
