Watch the GAME OF THRONES Musical Coldplay Wrote for Red Nose Day

Is there a more nonsensical pairing than George R.R. Martin and Chris Martin? One is a verbose and murder-y author and the other a top 40s pop/rock sound man. But you know what? Sometimes from the most unlikely of places comes the greatest of collaborative ideas. Which is exactly why we’re sorta smitten with their (clearly) Broadway-bound mash-up of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

From songifying the Red Wedding, Ramsay Bolton’s general masochistic insanity (and messed-up bromance with pet/toy Theon-turned-Reek), an ode to the motherbrothersisterlovers Cersei and Jamie, and Tyrion Lannister’s cunning ability to somehow stay alive, Chris Martin and his Coldplay brethren took on A Song of Ice and Fire‘s televised version of itself for NBC’s Red Nose Day festivities and the result? Musical madcappery of the stabbiest order …narrated by Liam FREAKIN’ Neeson of all people. Heck, there’s even a Rastafarian take on the Targaryen queen because why not? It’s hard out here for a Khaleesi, y’all.

And honestly, is there any better way to soothe the soul when it comes to the murder-y machinations of Walder Frey than to make light of all the death in song? We’ve got to be honest, we’d see this show in a heartbeat.

Lots of stabbing
And a bit of beheading ♫♪♬
