Game of Thrones MMO Coming to a Browser Near You

Publisher BigPoint and HBO joined forces to create a free-to-play browser-based Game of Thrones MMO, with Artplant, creators of Battlestar Galactica Online, developing the game.  There isn’t much info out now, but a closed beta test is scheduled for summer 2012.  You can sign up at the official website for upcoming news.

This looks fun and all, but while we’re on the subject of video games I can’t stop thinking about the trailer for Borderlands 2 that was released last week.  My pants are still not dry!

I find it kind of insane that they would think a Game of Thrones MMO is a good idea, financially. They can’t possibly think that people outside the MMO crowd/game of thrones readers in the venn diagram are going to play this. Working an MMO in this landscape is just irresponsible in general. Even world of warcraft is losing subscriptions steadily.

Now, if Game of Thrones made one of those annoying facebook/farmville games…..

Hopefully you gain experience through stabbing each other in the back through political maneuvering. Also at a certain point your character dies and does not come back.

I call dibs on being Peter Dinklage!

Got-mmorpg? *sigh* ..but is there surprise sexy butt-sex? Cause that’s what inquiring hive-minds will truly want to know about this title.
