Hey, Game of Thrones fans: this trailer for season six of the series is chockablock with spoilers and we’re going to be diving into ’em headfirst. If you want to remain ignorant, turn away now!
We’re less than two weeks out from the season six premiere of Game of Thrones, and let me tell you, HBO is not making it easy on any of us (or our favorite characters) this go-around. In the latest trailer for the April 24 premiere, good ol’ Lord Snow’s dead body is all up in this thing, as are the undead denizens of the Night’s King. Winter isn’t just about the snow, you guys: it’s also about dead people wanting to rule the land of the living. A land that’s clearly going to go through a bit of stuff this season.
Let’s get a few things out of the way: Yes, Jon Snow is still dead in this, and no that’s probably not likely to change any time soon. But there’s a lot of exciting other stuff we weren’t expecting to see. Chief among them those myriad shots of the Night’s King.
Arguably the most mysterious character in all of Thrones, the Night’s King, has always loomed just beyond the frame of the series. But by the looks of this trailerâand Ser Davos’ ominous wordsâthe dead have a major story to be told this season on the show. And not just the undead; the long-dead-stayed-dead sorta folks, too. Did anyone catch that Targaryen armor? Worn by a man with white hair? Could that be the Mad King battling it out at the end of his reign? The Tower of Joy battle? Perhaps another, even further back in time? History does have a way of repeating itself on this show.
There’s also, it seems, a host of coulda-been-dead storylines that look like they’re popping back into fray this season (and yes, that was a purposefully terrible Frey pun). House Freyâand Tully!âboth make appearances in the clip, as well as the as-yet, largely-unseen Ironborn. Oh hi, Yara Greyjoy!
Perhaps the most exciting part for us, though? Seeing Sansa Stark look like such a bossâdare we say, a queen? Honestly there’s so much to cover from this trailer, we’re merely scratching the surface. But that’s what the comments below are forâdiscussion!
Speaking of Sansa, could a major battle rage on Thrones in her honor?
But what do you think of the new trailer? Let us know in the comments below.
