For 20 years, Furbies have not-so-quietly invaded our homes as gifts for small children, or objects to be dissected and experimented upon. In our lifetime, we’ve already witnessed the unholy fusion of an Amazon Echo and a Furby, along with other disturbing Furby hacks. But one man has transformed the Furbies into something even more profoundly disturbing: It’s the Furby Organ, and surely its music is the soundtrack in the darkest depths of Hell.
Via BoingBoing, the Furby Organ is the creation of Sam, the host of the Look Mum No Computer YouTube channel. According to Sam, the organ consists of 44 Furbies who have been modified using his “formant Furby fusion synthesis brain modification surgery procedure.” The end result looks like something out of The Human Centipede. The Furbies are all hardwired together and can be awakened simultaneously with an outbreak of Furbish ramblings.
Does it work? The video demonstrates that it can function as an organ, and the Furbies even “speak” while playing their respective notes. That unnerving effect makes it sound as if the Furbies are singing in a choir, although we’re hesitant to classify their unified screechings as “music.” Sam also released a few video logs about the creation of his Furby organ, and its conception back in 2011. It took nearly seven years, but this unlikely dream is now a reality.
