Funny or Die’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR REENACTORS Is Priceless

American Civil War reenactments are a real thing, wherein grown men and women dress up like Union or Confederate soldiers, and then proceed to dramatize the bloodiest and most horrible battles in American history for shits and giggles, and–I assume–a deep love of outdoor theater. Or something. I’m not too sure how many Civil War reenacting groups there still are in the United States, but for a while there, it was a semi-popular thing to do.

Now the folks at Funny or Die have created a hilarious mockumentary short around another Civil War–you know, the one between Iron Man and Captain America, now raking in millions at your local multiplex. Tony Hale (Veep, Arrested Development) and Adam Pally (The Mindy Project, Happy Endings)  play Chad and Angus, two pool supply store employees from Canoga Park, California, who spend their free time facing off as Tony Stark and Steve Rogers in empty parking lots.

Of course, we also meets the cosplayers who play the rest of the reenactors too. Throughout the rest of the mockumentary, we are introduced to the others members from the opposing Avengers teams, like Ronnie, who doesn’t take this whole reenactment thing as seriously as the others (“just three or four times a week”) and is still saving up to get some decent Falcon wings.

There’s also Gabriel, our Party City version of the Vision; and Parker and Pete, who are struggling to bring real accurate detail to the Ant-Man/Hawkeye partnership, which includes a little forced perspective to make Parker look small. Maybe my favorite part though is “Zack Danther,” a white dude who self identifies as black, and thinks it’s okay to play the Black Panther; kind of like a superhero version of Rachel Dolezal.

You can watch the entire hilarious Funny or Die video above.

So what do you think of this latest Marvel send-up? And do you have any thoughts as to why Spider-Man’s bare shoulders are always exposed?? Let us know what you think in the comments!
