FROZEN’s Olaf Stars in the Trailer for His 21-Minute Film OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE

It’s been almost four years now since Frozen became one of the biggest Disney animated hits of all time, spawning a merchandising cash cow that keeps on reaping returns for the Walt Disney Company. And although a sequel was announced some time ago, it’s still several years away from actual release. In the meantime, Disney plans to tide fans over of Elsa, Anna, and the rest of the Arendelle crew with a new Frozen short… which is actually not all that short, really, at over 20 minutes in length!

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have our first look at Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, a new 21-minute “featurette” which puts Frozen snowman Olaf (Josh Gad) front and center, showcasing his quest to find a proper holiday tradition for sisters Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) in their first holiday season together as adult (and non estranged) royalty. The new short will play in front of Pixar’s Day of the Dead-themed animated feature Coco. You can check out the first Olaf’s Frozen Adventure trailer down below.

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure brings back the principal cast of the original films (including Jonathan Groff, who is set to come back as Kristoff), and brings in directors Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton (Prep & Landing) and producer Roy Conli (Big Hero 6), and adds four new original songs, this time from a new composing duo, Kate Anderson and Elyssa Samsel.

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure is but one part of what will end up being a complete Frozen saga, which started with the original 2013 film, continued on with Frozen Fever (which played in front of 2015’s Cinderella) and continues now with Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, the upcoming Frozen musical on Broadway, and finally (or perhaps not finally) Frozen 2, which hits in the fall of 2019.

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure hits theaters everywhere in front of Coco on Nov. 22.
