Do not adjust your dial. These are the sounds of the quantum airwaves streaming through your speakers…  Beginning Wednesday, November 29, join us on Alpha every week for our new sci-fi radio play series, Frequency Bandits! Yes, that’s right: we are bringing the radio plays of yesteryear into the future with a brand new take on the classic medium.

But who or what are the Frequency Bandits, you ask? Why, they’re a team of inter-dimensional travelers led by the brightest quantum physicist of Lab 17, Dr. Laika Starr (Erika Ishii), of course! After corporate overlords fired her and shut her science department down, Dr. Starr stole the quantum wristbands needed to continue her research.

Now, she is joined by her company’s Student Intern Opie Otter (Matt Gardner), Administrative Coordinator Chloe Black (Lauren Elliot) and an adorable pet named Borf. They will risk their lives on unsanctioned missions to explore every audioverse in the galaxy. Each station is a doorway to an unknown dimension. And each dimension has a story.

Co-starring Stephanie Kerbis, Morgan Davis, and Hayes Dunlap as the Frequency Bandits Repertory Players, Frequency Bandits boasts guest stars and familiar faces like Damion Poitier (Alpha Comic Book Club) and André Gower (Short Ends, The Monster Squad). But don’t just take our word for it — ahead of its premiere next Wednesday, November 29, meet the Frequency Bandits for yourself!

Dr. Laika Starr, Quantum Physicist and Team Leader (Erika Ishii)
Dr. Starr developed, researched and discovered the quantum radio waves technology that allows the team to travel the audioverse.  So, obviously she’s hyper-intelligent and is always considered the smartest in the room, even if she’s a bit daft about everything else in life. She is impossibly curious, always eager to chart and explore each individual audioverse, and not afraid to roll up her sleeves when things get messy.

Chloe Black, HR Director (Lauren Elliot)
Chloe is a cynical realist that coordinates the Frequency Bandit’s adventures; charts the course, keeps the team fed, checks cat memes online, reminds all her dum-dum coworkers about Friday Fridge cleanings, etc. With Lab 17 shut down, Chloe decided “What the hell, this is more fun then anything else.” She’s correct. And besides, someone has to keep the team from falling into a death trap.

Opie Otter, Student Intern (Matt Gardner)

Opie is optimistic to a fault and naive about the wider world, always getting the short end of the fish stick. Opie joined Lab 17 because he thought it would do him some good to get outside his safe space for some real-world experience. (And yes, this is a paid internship.) His best friend is the mysterious Borf, an alien creature who, if slaughtered, could yield any kind of edible animal meat in the known audioverse.
