Fortnite debuted just over a year ago, and gamers still can’t get enough of it. Epic Games is slated to launch season six of Fortnite next month, but not without literally dropping a hint about what’s coming next. In this case, it’s a giant purple cube that suddenly appeared on the game’s map. On today’s Nerdist News, we share everything we know about the purple cube and what it may mean for Fortnite‘s new season.

Fans noticed the purple lightning storms were actually counting down to an event in July. Then at the end of last week, the purple cube suddenly appeared in Paradise Palms. You can shoot the cube, but we don’t recommend it–the cube shoots back and it will shock players with a bolt of electricity that causes damage.
If you strike the cube with a pickaxe, you’ll simply bounce away like it’s a trampoline. And if players stand next to the cube, it recharges their shields. More intriguingly, the cube appears to be slowly moving at regular intervals. Fans have theorized the cube is heading for the middle of the map, and the speculation is the cube will create a new biome when it arrives at its final destination. Of course, there’s no way to really understand the cube’s final function until it actually does it.
