The Daredevil cast continues to grow. Elden Henson (The Mighty Ducks, The Hunger Games) has joined the cast as lawyer Franklin P. “Foggy” Nelson, Matt Murdock’s best friend and conscience in his civilian life. Here’s how Marvel is describing the role:
“With a diverse body of acclaimed work, including the Hunger Games and Mighty Ducks franchises, Elden Henson will play Foggy Nelson, Matt Murdockâs best friend and legal partner. In a town full of crime and corruption, Foggy’s friendship to the community and passion for improving it have made him a friend to its many residents from all walks of life.”
If there’s one constant in Matt Murdock’s life, it’s doomed women. But if there’s a second constant, it’s his longtime friend and law practice partner Foggy Nelson.
Foggy’s the quintessential good guy and – when Murdock will listen – the voice of reason, keeping Matt/Daredevil from going over the edge. In the right hands, he can be just the right gentle comic relief to offset the doom and gloom that comes with the territory of Matt Murdock’s life.
Jon Favreau was the last character to play Foggy onscreen in the Ben Affleck-starring Daredevil feature. Favreau went for more of a fast-talking goofball thing, playing the comedic foil to Affleck’s playboy lawyer Matt Murdock. And now I’m remembering how all over the place the tone of that movie was.
Henson joins the previously announced Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Vincent DâOnofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin), and Rosario Dawson, who’s joined the cast in an as-yet unnamed role. Daredevil will make its debut on Netflix in 2015.
