First Series of THE HATEFUL EIGHT Pop! Vinyls is Perfect

One of the best things about Funko‘s domination of licensed characters for its seemingly infinite Pop! line of vinyl figures is the chance to own toys for things that, by rights, shouldn’t really have toys. Like, who’d have expected a whole line of Sixteen Candles figures, or a Clark Griswold from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation? It’s silly! But, glob help us, we can’t help but get more and more excited every time a new one gets announced and we see those immobile, cartoonish, yet totally accurate representations.

Case in point is the first series of figures from Quentin Tarantino‘s The Hateful Eight, representing four of the eight central characters from the film: John “The Hangman Ruth” (Kurt Russell), Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), criminal Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), and Sheriff Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins).

I feel like Funko have really outdone themselves with the quality of these figures. Just from the picture you can see the level of detail and intricacy in each and every brush stroke. The facial hair of both Warren and Ruth looks amazing, the big fluffy hats on both Ruth and Domergue are astoundingly complex, and they even managed to give the captured outlaw the prerequisite bloody face, since that’s her state for most of the film.

One can only hope (one being me, anyway) that we’ll get the follow-up set of four with Joe Gage (Michael Madsen), Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth), Bob (Demian Bichir), and General Sandy Smithers (Bruce Dern). Hopefully Smithers will come sitting in that chair because that’s where he is through the whole thing. And, if they’re feeling cheeky, they could always make figures of Jody (Channing Tatum) and O.B. (James Parks) as well. Then you could make your own Minnie’s Haberdashery playset and relive all the talking and violence!

Tarantino movies aren’t strangers to the Funko Pop! treatment; both Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill have several figures, including Jimmie from the former, played by QT himself.

The first wave of The Hateful Eight Funko Pop! vinyl figures will see release in February.
