Everybody loved the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor.” I think, legitimately, everybody loved it, and if not they’re just malcontents (humble opinion). Part of the reason everybody loved it was it introduced an amazing character, the War Doctor, played by John Hurt, and seeing him match up with the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors was a real joy. But, now that we’ve had a full series with Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi, it makes us all wish he could have shown up in the special for more than just a shot of his iconic T-zone. Well, thanks to comics, that’s now a possibility.
Titan Comics is the home of Doctor Who in comics form and has been for about a year now, and they have ongoing series featuring Doctors Ten, Eleven, and Twelve, and have had a miniseries with Nine. But, what we all want to see is a massive team up! This is where “Four Doctors” comes in. Written by Doctor Who luminary and all-around author extraordinaire Paul Cornell, and featuring art by Neil Edwards, the five-part weekly series beginning on August 12, 2015, will feature a team-up story with the Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctors, their respective comics companions, and even an important appearance by the War Doctor. I mean, what’s not to love there, Whovians?!
The ongoing series will be put on hold during this five-week event, but when you have all you Doctors in one book, you’re pretty much all set. The official release on August 12th will support <em>Doctor Who Comics Day on Saturday, August 15th.
