At the end of Game of Thrones Season 4, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) finally found the Three-Eyed Raven that had haunted his dreams. The Raven turned out to be a man, who told Bran that he would never walk again, but he would âfly.â
Bran and his companions were entirely left out of Game of Thrones Season 5, because they had reached the end of their storyline in George R.R. Martinâs currently released novels in his A Song of Ice and Fire series. But the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones will be the first year to move beyond Martinâs novels as the series nears its endgame.
Entertainment Weekly has debuted the first photo of Hempstead-Wright as Bran Stark in Game of Thrones Season 6, and heâs definitely gone through some physical changes. According to the accompanying article, the now 16 year-old Hempstead-Wright is nearly 6-feet tall! Even Hodor is going to have a hard time carrying him now!
Presumably, Branâs return means that Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) and Hodor (Kristian Nairn) will also be back. Screen legend Max von Sydow is taking over the role of the Three-Eyed Raven, and his voice was recently heard with Branâs visions in a promo video for the sixth season.
There is some speculation that Branâs newfound abilities may allow him to take part in some of the sixth seasonâs other storylines, despite his location beyond the Wall. But it remains to be seen what Branâs visions will uncover, and which truths will be revealed.
Game of Thrones Season 6 will premiere in April 2016 on HBO.
