First Look at Arseface on AMC’s PREACHER Revealed at WonderCon

Face of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon‘s Preacher have reason to get excited for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s TV adaptation of the acclaimed DC/Vertigo comic. Having seen the pilot, I can attest that the show faithfully captures the outrageous satire and blacker-than-night humor of the book, even as it takes risks with the look of certain characters. Those risks, however, pay off handsomely. Dominic Cooper and Ruth Negga may not look exactly like the Jesse Custer and Tulip we know from the comics, but they’re so damn charismatic and likable in their roles that I’d be surprised to hear too many fans complain. Then there are other characters who look pretty much the same way they do in the source material, like Joseph Gilgun‘s hilarious Irish alcoholic vampire Cassidy and Ian Colletti’s Eugene. Better known as Arseface, Eugene is the teenage son of the town sheriff, whose suicide attempt goes terribly, terribly wrong when he winds up shooting a huge chunk of his face off.

Preacher 3

AMC, which will air the show’s pilot at 10pm ET/PT, on Sunday, May 22, released a new photo of Colletti’s character Friday night at WonderCon 2016 in Los Angeles, and it alleviates doubt that TV wouldn’t be able to do the disfigured outcast justice…

Preacher

Not bad, eh? If the rest of the series can continue the go-for-broke bravura of the pilot, Preacher should be the favorite new show of many a genre fan come summer.
