So thanks to Marvel.com, Â as well as ABC’s special presentation of Marvel: Assembling a Universe, we have our first glimpses, via production art, on what the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are going to look like in Avenger: Age of Ultron. Hopefully, this is just what the characters are going to look like when we first meet them, before they are fully-fledged superheroes, because if this is what counts as their superhero costumes, then fanboys everywhere need to lay off Bryan Singer’s X-Men movie costumes for awhile. (Also, Pietro needs white hair.) Like I said, this could be before the Maximoff twins join the team, so I am reserving judgement….for now. One thing fanboys and fangirls can’t complain about? This sweet image of Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor vs. the Hulk (naturally.)
I can see Chris Hardwick, but I also can see Aaron Paul in that picture
I like when they put stuff from the comics in the movies, but some stuff just needs to be changed, and Scarlet witch comics costume would look ridiculous! not sure about the new suit, but it fits better into real world than the comic one does! The reason why characters like Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, and Cap can look that way is because their film universe mixes the right amount of fantasy and reality to make it believable that they can exist. Too much reality and they’ll look silly, too much fantasy and it looks campy. The X-Men films are more grounded in reality then in the fantastical aspects, which is why the costumes are not as flashy. Gradually, though as audience tastes and trends have changed we see that the X-Men franchise is incorporating more fantastical elements into the mythos. I won’t be surprised that in the future the X-Men franchise will have costumes more in line with current trends.
Hulkbuster?!! This is gonna get ugly yet awesome same time! I really like how they look in these concepts, even though Wanda IS gonna get something different on her eventually.
Quicksilver looks like Hardwick. Not a complaint, just an observation.
Avengers = Quicksilver
X-Men Days of Future Past = Skrillexsilver
“But Avengers was more or less one big fanservice. It showed you the the comic-book genre can be more or less copy and pasted onto the big screen. It showed you that not all Superheroes need to be darker and broodier.”
It’s more complicated than that, and honestly kind of an insult to the finesse required. They didn’t just throw them into bright costumes; the brightness of it comes from the overall coloration of the frame. If you see the costumes in regular daylight (as in behind-the-scenes photos), they’re quite dark.
you don’t really expect them to stick that girl in that red stripper suit with the goofy headpiece do you? Sorry, but it ain’t gonna work, maybe they’ll give her like, a headband or some sort of nod to the original costume, but there’s a reason Cap’s wings are painted on, why loki wears a coat instead of tight green pajamas with fuzzy boots, and why Hawkeye doesn’t wear…that weird homoerotic purple getup with the goofiest mask this side of Electro. Hell, they don’t even let Thor have bangs. Do I agree with all of this dillution? No, I think they could stand to go a little more over the top, but I get why they do it, those costumes from the comics would look completely ridiculous in a god damn movie.
I dunno, I really like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver’s costumes. I was never a huge fan of that ridiculous whatever-you’d-call-it that Wanda always wore on her head. Likewise for the silly lightning bolt spandex that Pietro always wore.

The costumes are great.
The last thing we need is friggin’ fanservice headpieces and unrealistically-bright crap. Film is a different medium than comics; popular fan opinion doesn’t falsify that as artistic truth.
I like the concept for the costumes. Seems like a less ridiculous choice than some of what we’ve seen for X-Men: Days of Future Past.
