First FARGO Season 2 Teaser Lands Online

Over at the FX YouTube channel, the very first teaser for the second season of Fargo is up and ready for analyzing. Titled “Peck, Peck, Boom, Boom” the teaser focuses on the grayscale landscape of the snowy northern midwest and two distinct flashes of color: the orange on the woodpecker’s crest, and the orange of the gunfire in the distant woods. If there’s one thing we can be sure of, it’s that the second season of Fargo will be chock full of gunfire, murder and all of the same kinds of violence that made the first season so jarring and so, so fun to watch.

Since Fargo is an anthology series like HBO’s True Detective, featuring different characters and stories with each season, we unfortunately won’t be getting more of the roles that made the first season so wonderful. Allison Tolman played, in my mind, the protagonist of the first season with her portrayal of tireless and observant Deputy Molly Solverson. Sure, Martin Freeman’s Lester Nygaard was the morally corrupt thread that wove most of the story together, but Deputy Solverson was the hero. While we would love to see more Allison/Molly, we’re equally excited to see Kirsten Dunst dust off that Drop Dead Gorgeous accent for her tenure in North Dakota’s most surprisingly murderous town.

The second season of Fargo returns to FX in September and features Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, Jean Smart and Nick Offerman. Patrick Wilson will be playing a younger version of Molly Solverson’s father Lou. Noah Hawley is returning to write the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning series.
