The First DUCKTALES Trailer is Here and More TV News

This week has been the week of oh my goodness, the casting news is never ever going to stop. The theme is continuing in today’s TV-Cap. I have casting updates for Inhumans, Gotham, and more, I also have the first look at Disney’s DuckTales reboot, a tease for the next season of Fargo, and more.

Changes. No one likes to hear “you used to be a big deal,” but that’s what Huey, Dewey, and Louie tell their Uncle Scrooge upon meeting him for the first time. Ah, youths. The first look at Disney XD’s reboot of DuckTales shows a world that’s familiar but also not. For example, the animation is stylized (I’m a fan) and you can understand what Scrooge’s nephews are saying. But all the adventure and action seems to be there, plus, hello, David Tennant as Scrooge. The animated series is set to arrive this summer. [Nerdist]

Let’s Do This. Okay, we’re going to tackle all of today’s casting news with the help of some sophisticated bullet points.

  • Gotham is bringing in Ra’s al Ghul–I think it’s an unwritten rule all Batman stories have to feature the character. He’ll be played by Game of Thrones alum Alexander Siddig. [TVLine]
  • Keeping in the realm of DC Comics, Jefferson Pierce’s daughters have been cast for the Black Lightning pilot. Nafessa Williams will play Anissa, and China Anne McClain will play Jennifer. [CBR]
  • On Inhumans, another key role has been filled. Ken Leung is set for the role of Karnak, Black Bolt’s cousin. [Marvel]
  • And finally, that X-Men pilot? Amy Acker is joining as a lead; she’s signed to play Kate Stewart. Equally exciting, Emma Dumont is going to be Polaris. [Nerdist]

The Sex Toy Game. In season three of Grace and Frankie, the title duo is taking on an unique business opportunity–selling vibrators. The partnership puts some strain on their relationship, as you can see in the above trailer. The show returns to Netflix with new episodes on March 24. [Entertainment Weekly]

Pilot Season. March 17 will bring the return of pilot season for Amazon. The process: they drop several pilots on their streaming platform and decide what to turn into series based on customer feedback and other factors. Some highlights include a drama starring Richard Madden and Hayley Joel Osment, titled Oasis, and a series from Gilmore Girls co-creator Amy Sherman-Palladino called The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. You can get details about those pilots and the rest of the line-up at The Hollywood Reporter.

Chilling Promo. I’m going to be honest. This is one of those teasers that is visually interesting but doesn’t say a lot—or does it? The use of seconds-long promos to push TV series is a long article to write someday, but for now, hey, how about a look at season three of Fargo? The FX series returns on April 19. [/Film]

Another Reboot. Nickelodeon’s CG Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has found a place with fans, but its fifth season will be its last. Don’t say goodbye just yet, because Nickelodeon is rebooting the franchise again as a 2D animated series. Yep. The upcoming incarnation, called Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will air in fall 2018. [Variety]

A Different Missing Boy. If you thought Will’s disappearance in Stranger Things was creepy, it doesn’t look like that abduction has anything on another original series from Netflix. Dark is the streaming service’s first German language original series. It’s about a missing kid in a small town. But, appropriate for its name, Dark looks much more bleak than Stranger Things. Watch the above trailer and see what you think. [CBR]

Taking Control. Gina Torres has taken a more hands-on role in the Suits universe. She’s made a deal to star in and produce a spinoff focused on Jessica Pearson. I’d be on board to see more of her fierce and fashionable character in the spotlight. Get more info at Deadline.

The Past and Yesterday. Today’s corner o’ recaps has selections from Thursday night television (thank you, The CW) and the wayback machine. Get your fill of our thoughts on the latest Supernatural and Riverdale. Then, jump back for Game of Thrones Re-Throned and Batman Reanimated.

Are you ready for a return to Duckburg? Tell me in the comments.
