I, many people out there, missed Firefly when it originally aired. But it was also one of the first TV shows I binged watched when the craze began. So in that way I’m like a lot of people in that I would love the opportunity to visit the crew of the Serenity once again. And as it turns out: the cast is totally into the idea, too!
That is, if the Firefly reuion panel at New York Comic Con was any indication. This past weekend Nathan Fillion (Mal), Gina Torres (Zoe), Jewel Staite (Kaylee), and Alan Tudyk (Wash) reminisced about the show, and as it turns out, you wouldn’t have to twist the arm of the cast too far. When the question about a possible second season came up in the discussion, the cast was definitely on board, but not without some prerequisites:
Nathan Fillion: “Full-time, please.”
Jewel Staite: “Otherwise they would cast new people.”
Gina Torres: “And nobody wants that!” (That one got a HUGE reaction from the crowd.)
I mean, I would watch the HECK out of a season 2 of Firefly. And whatever far-fetched, potentially plothole-riddled technique they use so that Wash is magically back from the dead? I will let it slide. If I can get past the fact that a lightning bolt makes Barry Allen run fast, bringing a beloved character back from the dead is something I will okay with. Firefly is currently streaming on Netflix.
So what do you think? Would you be on board for a second season of Firefly? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
