Well now. This finally looks epic.
We don’t get the expected look at villain Ares, who has been revealed in toy form but is presumably a third-act entry into the movie for a big final battle. But we do finally know now who that half-masked German villainess is: Dr. Poison (clearly not a nickname one choose for oneself). Also, and this may be more important to some of our readers, Chris Pine takes his shirt off.
With the film finally approaching release, some of the big battle shots that rely on heavy post-production are clearly ready to be seen at last, and so we get to observe a whole lot of bullets, and bullet-proofing. It seems Diana stole her famous lasso of truth, and, in a moment of humor, it is revealed where her secret identity name comes from.
If Diana has to abandon Themyscira forever to help mankind, what will make her go back so far into hiding that neither Batman nor Superman knew about her? Is this going to be like the first Captain America in the way it ends? And if so, will we get a short-lived Agent Trevor series out of the deal? Because we’d totally watch that. Maybe Trevor shouldn’t find a reason to sing every episode, though.
The use of color and the overall theme of optimism and hope has us pumped that this may be more upbeat than a viewer might expect. We will agree to vary on our opinions of the rock song this trailer chooses to have underscore those scenes.
