Normally when someone takes the time to create a wonderful real-life version of a fictional item, you want to be careful with it, not go outside and throw it around. However, when that item is a working boomerang, it would be rude not to.
Victor Poulin, from Boomerangs by Vic, created six unique boomerangs based on video games and movies, and showed that they donât just look really cool, they really work. All of them are made from âthe best 10 ply 5mm birch on the market,â and as you can see from his video, they come flying back just the way they are supposed to.
The six boomerangs include:
- Gale boomerang from The Legend of Zelda
- Glaive, a âmagical, five-pointedâ throwing weapon, from the movie Krull
- Hellâs Retriever, a tomahawk from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies
- Sokkaâs boomerang from Avatar: The Last Airbender
- An oversized âBatarangâ from Batman
- The Pickaxe from Minecraft
If these were just fan-made recreations theyâd be great, but the fact that these are working boomerangs is kind of amazing. That pickaxe doesnât look like it should be able to move like that, but sure enough it comes back.
Honestly, itâs not that Iâm a boomerang âtruther,â itâs just that I have never once been able to successfully throw a boomerang in my life. For a long time I thought a âworking boomerangâ was just a made up thing for television and film. You know, like Brussel sprouts. Obviously I was wrong about a lot.
These are really cool, but what other fictional weapon would you like to see Vic make? Throw your best suggestion into our comments section below.
